Horatio Caine, who is played by David Caruso, was born on April 7th, 1960 in Miami, Florida. He stands six feet tall and weighs 180 lbs. The original reason Caine turned toward a career in law enforcement, was to help the police find his mother's killer. He was only 17 back then, but by the time her killer was sentenced to life, he knew what he wanted to do. Right after high school, he entered the police academy, but soon learned that life of the beat left him bored. When he realized that it was the CSIs who actually solved the cases, he decided to return to school, where he received a B.S. in Chemistry from Florida State University. Soon after, Caine became a CSI and quickly moved up the ranks to where he currently sits -- a CSI Level 3. His specialties on the job are arson and explosives.

Megan Donner, who was played by Kim Delaney, was originally the head of the CSI Crime Lab and Horatio Caine's boss. Since then, the roles were reversed when she stepped down from her head position and was replaced by Caine. During her time on the series (Episodes 1-1 to 1-10), she who took the lost Tim Speedle under her wing, and helped him to choose a career as a CSI. She often kept a frozen face and was quite self-assertive. Donner was the crime lab's by-the-book forensic DNA specialist.

Calleigh Duquesne, who is played by Emily Procter, was born on February 28th, 1974 in Darnell, Louisiana. She has a height of 5'3" and weighs 105 lbs. She grew up with her parents, who were constantly drinking, and her brothers, who along with herself, quickly learned to survive on their own. The few times that her father was sober, she was the center of his world and loved it. He taught her that a woman can do anything a man could, that protecting justice was the most important thing of all and the finer points to mastering a gun. From a young age, Duquesne wanted to be just like her father, until she grew up and learned that he was not only a drunk, but a racist. The two no longer speak. Since then, she has earned a B.S. in Physics from Tulane University and has become an expert in Ballistics, Firearms and Toolmarks. Her expertise quickly got her a job in the New Orleans Crime Lab and When Horatio Caine contacted her boss in need of a ballistics expert, Dequesne packed up and headed for Florida. She is currently a CSI Level 2.

Tim Speedle, who is played by Rory Cochrane, was born on June 24th, 1973 in Syracuse, New York. He stands six feet in height and weighs 153 lbs. His family includes a mother who was a volunteer with Social Services, a father who owned a chain of family restaurants and a younger brother who he never developed a very close relationship with because he was 13 years younger. Always interested in science, Speedle read every book on the topic he could find. He and his best friend even won their high school the State Championship in science four years in a row. However, when his best friend was in a snowmobile accident and died from complications two years later, he no longer carred about anything and dropped out of school. He ended up finding his best friend's uncle in Miami about a year later and followed him to work at the Miami-Dade Crime Lab. There he met Megan Donner, who took him under her wing and helped him to choose his career path. He soon earned a B.S. in Biology from Columbia University and became what he is today -- a CSI Level 3.

Eric Delko, who is played by Adam Rodriguez, was born on December 19th, 1976 in Miami, Florida. He has a height of 6'1" and weighs 180 lbs. He grew up with a Russian father, a Cuban mother and three sisters. His parents, wanting the best for their children, smuggled the family into the United States where they started their new life. His father worked his small engineering company into a large firm, while his mother devoted herself to charity work. During his schooling, Delko had to focusses -- science, to appease his father, and swimming. During his final year, he gave up his dream of Olympic glory and received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Miami. He is currently a CSI Level 1 with a specialty in Fingerprints and Drug Identification.

Alexx Woods, who is played by Khandi Alexander, was born on August 13th, 1960 in Queens, New York. She is 5'4" in height and weighs 115 lbs. She came from a large family, being the first of six children, who were all the best of friends. At the young age of 12, Woods knew what she wanted to do with her life -- become a doctor, which is exactly what she did. She earned a B.S. in Chemistry from New York University and a M.D. from Rutgers University. However during her medical residency, she was blamed for a patients death, leaving her to salvage what was left of her degree and find other employment. She took a part-time job with the New York Coroner's office and soon realized that this was what she was meant to do. When the county of Miami-Dade approached her to head up their new state-of-the-art facility, she had a big decision to make -- she could stay with her husband and two children in New York, or move out to Florida. Her family agreed that the people in Miami needed her and the choice was simple. She would move south.
